Letter from Representative Dave Paul

Dear Friends,
The best part of serving as your state representative is having the opportunity to listen to constituents and advocate for our District in Olympia. Over the last two years, I’ve met with many of you to learn what projects would have the most meaningful impact for our region.

I’d like to give you a quick update on some of the investments that I helped secure for our community in 2020.

  • $972,000 for upgrades to Wiley Slough to improve flood protection systems in the Skagit wildlife area

  • Over $300,000 for the Anacortes Family Center to improve childcare and housing affordability programs for our community

  • $200,000 for the Port Susan Trail project to improve recreational opportunities and promote tourism and economic vitality in Stanwood and Camano Island

These are in addition to the work done in 2019, including:

  • Over $1 million for projects in Oak Harbor, including critical funding for the Boys & Girls Club, new athletic fields, and improvements to the city's marina

  • $1 million for Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve to protect historic structures within the Reserve

  • $1 million for upgrades to Skagit County’s emergency communication system to improve public safety and better protect first responders

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to meet with me in Olympia and in our district over the past two years; your advocacy is critical to the legislative process and securing these investments for our community. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with constituents this spring, summer, and fall to identify our legislative priorities for the 2021 Legislative Session.

News From the 10th Legislative District Democrats May 2020 by 10th LD Chair, John Amell

May is the month that the political campaigns really get started.  Candidate filing week begins on May 11 and ends May 15. May 18 is the last day that candidates can withdraw.  Most Local Political Organizations (LPOs) hold their candidate endorsement meetings shortly after filing week.  All candidates for public office are required to file in order to be included on the Primary Election Ballot.  This includes Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs).

This link takes you to the on-line filing system.  Click on  "Online Candidate Filing".

If you have ever thought about becoming more involved in Democratic politics, this is the year to act.  You can run to become a PCO, the Democratic representative for your precinct!  PCOs are the building blocks of the Democratic Party. They are the grassroots organizing base for all of our activities.
