Did you tune in to the Facebook Live meeting? If so, then you know we had issues with wind affecting the sound quality. We were filming outside because I toured the CenturyLink Field Event Center earlier this morning, which will be the site of a military field hospital for people who don’t have COVID-19 — creating more room in our hospitals for COVID-19 patients.
Though I know the audio was difficult to hear (I promise we didn't film the video in a wind tunnel), I want to make sure you have information about the COVID-19 relief package I discussed. Here are some highlights:
The bill expands unemployment benefits by providing an extra $600 a week for up to four months, adding an additional 13 weeks of benefits and allowing part-time, self-employed and gig economy workers to access benefits. You can visit the state Employment Security Department's website at esd.wa.gov for more information.
Those making up to $75,000 will receive $1,200, married couples making up to $150,000 will receive $2,400 and families will receive $500 for each child.
The package includes $377 billion in small business aid.
Thank you for hanging in there with us as we adapt to this new time of virtual outreach. We are working hard to use online tools to get information out to the community. We also did a second take of the video to try our best to give you an update on the relief bill. You can watch the video on YouTube or on Facebook.
Thanks again for bearing with us! The latest information on COVID-19 is available here:
There is a New Indivisible Chapter serving the Camano Island area: Indivisible Camano Collaborative.
The key is their approach: to be a collaborative organization that works across all groups to help get Trump out of the White House and engage on local and national issues. The team has been working closely with the Stanwood Indivisible team, Seattle Indivisible, and other chapters as they count down to the 2020 Election. Indivisible Camano Collaborative feels it is key that both strong Democratic Organizations, like Camano Island Democrats and strong Indivisible Chapters are working together to amplify their reach and impact.

A note from ICD Chair, Steve DeHaven
To quote John Lennon, “Nobody told me there’d be days like these. Strange days, indeed.”
We’re coping with the COVID-19 crisis as well as can be expected. Since we’re all cooped up, we’re relying on electronic communications more heavily, so expect to see more of these emails during this time. We’ve also added Zoom online videoconferencing to our toolbox, and so far the outlook is promising. We hope to continue having remote meetings after this crisis, to whatever degree practical. I’m seeing faces from Camano that I don’t get to see often enough, and I hope that good feeling is mutual. Read More....
